Protect Our Winters
SNOW PRINT would like to involve a non-profit organization that focus their work trying to Protect Our Winters and POW does exactly that and have been active doing it since 2007.
Protect Our Winters (POW) is a global nonprofit organization that focuses on mobilizing the outdoor sports community to take action against climate change. POW was founded in 2007 by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones, who recognized the urgent need to address the impact of climate change on winter sports and the mountain ecosystems.
The mission of Protect Our Winters is to engage and educate the outdoor sports community to be effective advocates for climate action. They work to achieve this mission through four main pillars:
- Awareness: POW aims to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change on winter sports and the outdoor recreation industry. They provide educational resources, organize events, and collaborate with athletes and influencers to spread the message.
- Political Advocacy: POW advocates for policies that support renewable energy, carbon pricing, and other climate solutions. They work with lawmakers and decision-makers to promote legislation that addresses climate change and supports a transition to a clean energy economy.
- Community Engagement: POW encourages individuals and businesses within the outdoor sports community to take action against climate change. They provide resources and tools for individuals to reduce their carbon footprint, support sustainable practices, and become climate advocates in their communities.
- Corporate Responsibility: POW works with companies in the outdoor industry to promote sustainable business practices and reduce their environmental impact. They collaborate with brands to develop and implement climate action plans, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support renewable energy initiatives.
Protect Our Winters believes that the outdoor sports community has a unique and powerful voice in the fight against climate change. By mobilizing athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, and industry leaders, POW aims to protect the winter sports and the natural environments they depend on for future generations.
